…get an annual physical!
The best illustration for how we fuel our bodies might be that of an engine. If we put in bad fuel, the engine will run rough…over time, will prematurely destroy the engine. Often the real damage goes undetected until something snaps. The same is true with the food we eat.
We do not have to eat perfectly every day. However, even small improvements can have a huge impact on our well being. When I was in my early 30s, I was in a program that basically required me to get a physical exam four times per year. During one visit the nurse went over the results of my blood work and noticed my blood sugar had crept up into the “pre-diabetic” range. I felt fine…but little did I know, my sweet tea habit was about to send me down the same path as my father.
All I did was cut out the tea and started walking the dog a couple of times per week. Within a few months, I had lost 25 pounds and my blood sugar was back under 100.
Wellness is simple! Get an annual physical. It not only gives your doctor a baseline of what you look like when you are healthy, it may also uncover something that requires some attention. If you do not know about it, you cannot fix it. You can get a new car…
